PRESS RELEASE: Haines 400 Offshore Cruiser
Haines are delighted to announce the completion of the latest model in their range of luxury bespoke offshore cruisers. To be officially launched at Coldham Hall on the River Yare in Norfolk on 24th July 2010 with invited guests in attendance. With the first International showing of the craft following at Southampton Boat Show on berth M005, in September 2010.
This new Haines is an eagerly awaited larger addition to the range of Award Winning coastal and inland cruisers produced by this family owned British company, that this year celebrates their 30th year in business.
The sea-going Haines 400 is the new flagship of the Norfolk Company, known for their craftsmanship and customer service. This new 40 foot aft cabin is based on a proven restyled planing hull, with a new superstructure designed by Justin Haines. A semi displacement version also on offer for those not requiring as much speed or wanting to do more river cruising.
Having elegant contemporary looks with proven sea keeping ability, the 400 represents a major leap forward for the company into the larger offshore cruiser market. Incorporating the latest trends toward light spacious living areas, with large bonded windows and roof hatches to maximise light throughout the boat. Giving the whole boat a feeling of space and light and allowing good vision from all windows. It offers a large enclosed aft deck area with seating for 6/8, double helm to starboard with an easy to operate forward /aft canopy.
The 400 has wide side decks for safety and a sunbathing area with sun deck cushions forward. With easy access moulded steps at the transom from the bathing platform, to both port and starboard sides.
Following the success of the popular 350 model, the 400 is a significantly larger serious Category B craft, capable of speeds of up to 30 knots. Fitted with the latest bonded frameless window designs, two large double master cabins with spacious en-suites give the impression of a much larger craft. With Haines thoughtful use of storage space needed on longer cruises making it a comfortable craft for offshore cruising.
A feature of all Haines models is a stylish spacious well equipped galley and in the 400 an offset galley to both port and starboard sides, including a large 187 litre stainless fridge freezer, a large four burner hob, a combination oven/microwave, and good work top space. The demonstrator is also fitted with 6kw generator providing 240v power throughout. A dinette to port is also an option if required allowing for a slightly smaller galley layout. Fitted in light oak veneer finish with walnut steps, walnut flooring to the galley with walnut feature panels throughout the boat, along with blinds to all windows giving a contemporary look throughout the boat. Other finishes are also available.
The saloon features a large U-shaped leather settee to starboard which can be converted to a double with smaller settee to port. On the aft saloon bulk head is a large flat screen TV, one of the 3 TV’s offered in the entertainment package, making this a home from home coastal cruiser with multimedia entertainment system available to suit all ages. Offering good all round vision when seated or dining at the large saloon table.
This first model is fitted with Twin Volvo D6 330 hp diesel engines, other engines are available. With a Bowthruster and Sternthruster fitted on the demonstrator making it very user friendly.
Trials are taking place off the Norfolk Coast, watch out for test reports from boating media shortly.
Prices start from £257,000 Inc VAT for the semi displacement model and £298,000 Inc VAT for a twin 2 x 220 hp planing version

Hybrids: Environmentally friendly boating
The talk of the moment in all boating media is the advance of environmentally friendly propulsion systems coming on to the market.
Haines have always been aware of environmental issues, particularly in inland and estuary boating. Having launched a twin motored electric river craft in 1996. Now the company is looking to offer some of its range of low wash river cruisers with the latest hybrid engine/electric systems coming onto the market.
As the public are now much more concerned about preserving the world’s inland water ways and natural resources, the market place is now more ready to embrace this new technology. We will be pleased to quote for the installation of hybrid systems for some of the craft in the Haines range.

Nancy Oldfield Trust: Boats with wheelchair access available from Haines
Recently built was a Haines Bure 36 model converted for the Norfolk Charity that operates craft for the use of people needing wheelchair access. This boat has been modified from our current Bure 36 model to include a hydraulic ramp and access from both the side and the rear. The company specialises in this type of customisation which enables people to continue with their boating despite any physical disability.
This is the second craft the company has built for the Nancy Oldfield Trust, which operates several different types of craft on the Norfolk Broads. This new addition was launched in mid-August. Their first craft, a Haines 28'6" model, being used daily throughout the year to take people out on to the beautiful Norfolk Broads has been a great success, prompting the charity to return to Haines for another larger model.
The company would be pleased to quote for anyone requiring this type of customisation on some of the models currently in the Haines range of craft. Just give us a call on 01692 582180.
